Toyota CH-R Service Manual: Acceleration Sensor Malfunction (P1586)

Toyota CH-R Service Manual / K114 Cvt / Continuously Variable Transaxle System / Acceleration Sensor Malfunction (P1586)

DESCRIPTION

The ECM determines the vehicle inclination based on a signal from the airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor). If a malfunction of the airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) is determined based on a malfunction signal from the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly), the ECM stores this DTC.

HINT:

  • The airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) signal is sent to the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) via CAN communication.
  • If CAN communication DTCs are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

Acceleration Sensor Malfunction

After the ignition switch is turned ON, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) has detected either one of the following conditions, and the ECM has received a diagnostic signal from the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) for 3 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic).

  • While the vehicle is driven at 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, the difference between the calculated longitudinal G value based on the airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) (G sensor) and the value based the vehicle speed exceeds 0.35 G for 60 seconds or more.
  • Airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate and acceleration sensor) signal does not change 16 times or more while the vehicle speed decreases from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 0 km/h (0 mph).
  • Airbag sensor assembly (Yaw rate and acceleration sensor)
  • Brake actuator assembly (Skid control ECU)

HINT:

After performing repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.

  1. Drive the vehicle at 30 km/h (19 mph) or more for 60 seconds or more.
  2. While driving at 30 km/h (19 mph), depress the brake pedal 16 times or more until the vehicle is stopped.
  3. Check for DTCs again.
