SYSTEM FUNCTION

Function

Outline

Push-button start function

When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is brought into the vehicle and verified, this function changes the power source or starts the engine when the engine switch and brake pedal are operated.

HINT:

If an emergency stop was performed (the engine switch was pressed quickly three times or more, or pressed and held for 2 seconds or more) while driving, the engine can be started again if driving at more than 5 km/h, by moving the shift lever to N, and pressing the engine switch.

Transmitter battery saving function for key

If a switch on the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is depressed and held, this function stops transmission of the signal after approximately 20 seconds to save transmitter battery power.

Transmitter battery saving mode function

  • If the unlock switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is pressed twice while the lock switch is being pressed, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly LED blinks 4 times and enters transmitter battery saving mode.
  • The smart key system does not operate while in transmitter battery saving mode.
  • If a switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is pressed, transmitter battery saving mode will be canceled.

Key cancel function

Cancels the smart key system when certain operations are performed.

Immobiliser function

Allows the engine to be started only by registered electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies to prevent an unauthorized engine start.

Automatic power off function

  • With the shift lever in P and the engine switch on (ACC) (the engine is not started and the vehicle is not moving), the power automatically turns off when the vehicle is left as is for 20 minutes or more.
  • With the shift lever in P and the engine switch on (IG) (the engine is not started and the vehicle is not moving), the power automatically turns off when the vehicle is left as is for 60 minutes or more.

DETECTION AREA

NOTICE:

  • Depending on the vehicle body shape, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not operate in certain locations.
  • Even if the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in the vehicle interior detection area, it may not be properly detected if it is on the instrument panel, in the glove box or on the floor.
  • Depending on the way the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is held, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not operate properly.
  • The key detection area may reduce in size or the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not be properly detected under the following conditions:
    • The transmitter battery is depleted.
    • There are TV towers, electric power plants, broadcasting stations, gas stations or other facilities that generate strong radio waves or electrical noise nearby.
    • Electronic devices such as cell phones, etc. are carried with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
    • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is covered by or in contact with a metal object.
    • A radio wave type keyless entry system or wireless remote is operated nearby.
    • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is placed near high-voltage equipment or equipment that emits electrical noise.

(a) The vehicle interior detection area is formed and the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is detected when any of the following conditions are met: 1) The driver door is opened and closed, 2) the brake pedal is depressed, 3) the engine switch is operated, 4) the conditions required for various warnings are met, or 5) an entry door lock operation is performed.

(b) The vehicle interior detection area when starting the engine can be customized through a customize setting.
