Toyota CH-R Service Manual: Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor (U0235)

Toyota CH-R Service Manual / Pre-collision / Pre-collision System / Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor (U0235)

DESCRIPTION

The millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is connected to the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) by a CAN communication line.

When entering test mode, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) communicates with the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly and determines whether the vehicle is equipped with a pre-collision system.

U023A is output when it is determined that the vehicle is not equipped with a pre-collision system.

Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor

When entering test mode, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) determines that the vehicle is not equipped with a pre-collision system

  • Skid control ECU (Brake actuator assembly)
  • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly
  • Wire harness or connector

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

  • When replacing the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly, always replace it with a new one.
  • When the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the radar sensor beam axis must be performed.

TEST MODE INSPECTION (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM)

HINT:

When entering test mode, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) communicates with the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly to judge whether the vehicle is equipped with the pre-collision system. Therefore, do not exit test mode within 5 seconds of entering test mode.

(a) Procedure to Enter Test Mode (Signal Check)

(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(2) for Manual Transmission:

Check that the shift lever is in neutral and apply the parking brake.

for Automatic Transmission:

Check that the shift lever is in P and apply the parking brake.

(3) Put the steering wheel in the neutral position.

(4) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(5) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(6) Turn the Techstream on.

(7) Switch the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) to Test Mode (Signal Check) using the Techstream. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC/EPB / Utility / Signal Check.

HINT:

Do not exit test mode within 5 seconds of entering test mode. If test mode is exited within 5 seconds of entering test mode, DTC U0235 may be stored. If DTC U0235 is output after exiting test mode, enter test mode again, wait at least 5 seconds, then recheck for DTCs.

(b) Test Mode (Signal Check) Display Check

(1) Check that the ABS warning and slip indicator lights come on for several seconds and then blink in the Test Mode pattern.

HINT:

If the ABS warning and slip indicator lights remains illuminated or does not illuminate when Test Mode (Signal Check) is entered, a component or wire harness may be malfunctioning.

(c) End of Test Mode (Signal Check)

(1) Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the Techstream.
