SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM

(a) When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control system detects ambient light levels and controls the low beam headlights, clearance lights, taillights and license plate lights.

LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (w/o Toyota Safety Sense P)

(a) The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights from being accidentally left on (headlights, front fog lights*1, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights).

  • *1: w/ Fog Light

(b) When all of the following conditions are met, the headlights, front fog lights*1, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights turn off:

  • The ignition switch is turned from ON to off.
  • The headlights, front fog lights, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights are on.
  • The driver door is opened.
  • *1: w/ Fog Light

LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (w/ Toyota Safety Sense P)

(a) The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights from being accidentally left on (headlights, front side marker lights, parking lights, taillights, rear side marker lights, license plate lights).

  • This system has the following functions.

Outline

Delay Function

The exterior lights automatically turn off after 30 seconds when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The ignition switch is turned from ON to off.
  • The low beam headlights are on.
  • All doors are closed after any of the doors are opened.

Door Control Transmitter-linked Function

The exterior lights turn off immediately when the delay function is active and the following condition is met:

  • The lock button on the key is pushed after all doors are locked.

Door Open-linked

The exterior lights automatically turn off immediately when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The ignition switch is turned from ON to off.
  • The taillights are on. (The low beam headlights are off.)
  • The driver door is opened.

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM

(a) The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the daytime running lights during the daytime to make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles.

  • This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
  • This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:
    • The ignition switch to ON.
    • The engine speed signal is input (engine running).
    • The light control switch is in the AUTO position (and the taillight are not turned on via the automatic light control system).
    • The parking brake switch is off.

DOOR MIRROR FOOT LIGHT CONTROL (w/ Door Mirror Foot Light)

(a) General

  • The door mirror foot light control consists primarily of the fade-in/fade-out function and timer illumination function.
  • This control is performed by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). According to various information, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) performs fade-in/fade-out control of the door mirror foot lights.

(b) The door mirror foot light control has the following control functions:

Actuation Area-linked

When all of the following conditions are met, the lights that operate fade-in:

  • The ignition switch is off.
  • All doors are closed.
  • A key is detected in the actuation area.

When the following condition is met, the lights that operate fade-out:

  • A key is not detected in the actuation area.

Door Lock/Unlock-linked

When all of the following conditions are met, the lights that operate fade-in:

  • The ignition switch is off.
  • All doors are closed.
  • Any door is unlocked when all doors are locked.

When either of the following conditions is met, the lights that operate fade-out:

  • All doors are locked when all doors are closed and any door is unlocked.
  • All doors are locked again when all doors are closed and locked.

Ignition Switch-linked

When the following condition is met, the lights that operate fade-out:

  • The ignition switch is ON.

Delay

When approximately 15 seconds elapse after any of the following conditions are met, the lights that operate fade-out:

The door unlock-linked function is active.

FOLLOW ME HOME SYSTEM (w/o Toyota Safety Sense P)

(a) The follow me home system is designed to illuminate the low beam headlights for approximately 30 seconds after the vehicle is parked.

(1) This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

(2) This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:

  • The ignition switch is off.
  • The light control switch is in the AUTO position.
  • The light control switch is pulled to flash the headlights once.

LANE CHANGE FLASHER CONTROL

(a) This control is performed by the combination meter assembly.

(b) When the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) is moved to the lane change position (it is not necessary to hold the switch) during a lane change, the turn signal light flashes a specified number of times.

(c) While the turn signal light is flashing after the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) has been moved to the lane change position, the turn signal light turns off if the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) is moved in the opposite direction.
